Our commitment

Bloom Ivy believes meaningful work and equal access go together. A core part of our purpose is creating real employment opportunities for people who have experienced barriers to work, including people with disability. We want everyone to be able to use our website, whatever their abilities or the technology they use, including screen readers, voice control, keyboard-only navigation and AI browsing assistants.

Accessibility standard

We aim for our website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the recognised standard in Australia under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).

What we do

  • Good colour contrast: text and interface elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and controls), so content stays readable for people with low vision or colour blindness. We don’t use colour alone to convey meaning.
  • Clear labels: every button, link and form field has a clear, descriptive label, including icon-only controls, so assistive technology and automated tools can tell what each element does.
  • Clean HTML structure: each page has one main heading and a logical heading order. We use semantic elements for navigation, main content, accordions and forms, so the page can be understood without relying on visual layout.
  • Keyboard access: menus, forms and expandable sections such as our FAQs work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Text alternatives: meaningful images have descriptive alt text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Responsive design: pages adapt to different screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200%.
  • Reduced motion: we respect your device’s reduced-motion setting where animations are used.

Support for assistive technology and AI assistants

Because our pages use clean, semantic HTML, they work well with screen readers, voice control and AI browsing tools. We also publish an llms.txt file at bloomivy.com.au/llms.txt, a plain-text summary of our key pages and services. It helps AI assistants find accurate information about Bloom Ivy quickly.

Ongoing improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review the website regularly and fix issues as we find them. Some third-party tools (such as embedded maps) or downloadable documents such as PDFs may not yet meet the standard in every respect, and we are working to improve these.
